Breakfast spot south of Strasbourg

Setting out early from onite in Strasbourg, driving toward Colmar. A nice little restaurant for breakfast just south, along the rue du vin?

Although brunch has gained traction in recent years in Paris as a trendy rendez-vous, breakfast as Americans know it doesn't exist in France. It could be different there on the German border, or if you stumble on a hotel catering to foreigners. They do lunch instead, and very well. You'll be able to find a cafe with coffee and croissants, though, to get through the morning along the route du vin.

We learned about French breakfast the hard way. We were leaving Colmar early in the morning for the drive to Luxembourg City and decided to stop at the McDonald's we had seen earlier for breakfast. But it was deserted at 8 a.m. It didn't open until 10.

I'd eat breakfast at the hotel/at a cafe near your hotel and plan on a great lunch on the route du vin.
