Breakfast in Munich

We will be staying at Eden Wolff Hotel for 3 nights starting April 26. If we don't want to pay the high price for breakfast at the hotel, where would you recommend we get something light for breakfast near the hotel?

Don, I have to agree with Lee. That's a fairly "high end" Hotel so if the room rates are within your budget, it's a bit surprising that the cost of breakfast is an issue. If you want to eat breakfast, dining at the Hotel is the best and easiest option. I doubt that you'd really save a lot by using an outside facility, whether in the HBf or elsewhere. The breakfasts at Munich Hotels are usually VERY complete and substantial, so it's not hard to "fill up" with a meal that will probably last well into the afternoon. I'll be back there again this fall, and quite looking forward to enjoying the breakfasts in Munich. Those are the "gold standard" that I use for comparison with all other breakfasts in Europe. So far, no other city that I've visited has surpassed Munich! Happy travels!

Well, if you're staying in the one near the Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) their website says that a big breakfast buffet is included in the room rate; this includes taxes and service charges. If you go to their website and click on "Zimmer" - rooms - that's where to find the info.

If the weather is nice enough for outside seating and you like big Bavarian breakfasts consider the "Wirtshaus in der Au" just behind the Deutsches Museum. www.wirtshausinderau.de (in German only unfortunately)

Booking.com allows someone to book a room there without breakfast for $13/p less. I would suggest that they just walk across the street to the Hbf and get something ala carte from the food court. It boggles my mind, though, that someone willing to pay $320 for a room bulks at 8% more for breakfast.

We stayed at the Hotel Mark ($80 per night). Which is now under renovation. Very small but very close to train station and the breakfast was great.

We stayed at the Hotel Eden Wolff for about 4 days. The breakfasts are outstanding. Well worth what you pay. We have spent many days in Germany- Eden wolf is probably the best breakfast we have had by far (Marriott Frankfurt is close). Their hotel also has a very good sdinner menu, although there are many other choices for dinner
