Bordeaux - Saint Emilion - Bergerac

Having explored the Dordogne to the east of Belves (inc. Sarlat), we now want to cover the region nearer to Bergerac. We just fell in love with the the Dordogne and the Lot valleys. So we want to see more of the Dordogne and the Gironde this time. We have 5 nights to spend between Bordeaux and Bergerac, with a car. I was thinking of spending two nights in/near Saint Emilion and another two nights close to Bergerac. One night??? - We will be coming in from the Pyrénées, near Pau. Would anyone have suggestions for places to stay, wineries to visit, things to see (chateau, bastide, etc.)? We tremendously enjoyed the Font de Gaume cave this year and explored the chateaux, gardens, and towns around Beynac, Sarlat, Les Eyzies, etc.. Any picturesque towns worth stopping in along the Gironde or Dordogne rivers (west of Belves)? A restaurant or a 'routier' to recommend? We are celebrating a birthday and, near Bergerac, I am seriously considering the Chateau des Beaudry for a splurge. Any other "splurge" recommendation instead of Beaudry? Thanks for your input!

Do make sure you visit the underground church in St-Emilion: a really unique location.
