Looking for a decent hotel near train station. Need to get to station at 6:00 HR. Is it possible and would it be safe to walk from a nearby hotel or should I consider a taxie that early in the morning? I heard that the area around the train station is not the greatest. I'm sure this has been done in the past but not sure which way to go. Any help would be appreciated.

Bill: In 2007 I stayed at the Ibis hotel about 500 yards away from the train station. It was fine, and even had a decent breakfast, bar, and Internet PC for guest usage. The area around the station isn't stellar (lots of doggy doo on the street), but better parts of the town are well within walking distance. The folks at the tourist center (also at the train station) spoke english and were helpful. Good luck!

There is an ETAP hotel on the other side of the street from the main entrance. Cheap and cheerful - I've used it myself.
