Bordeaux and Metz, France

I stayed at the Hotel de la Cathedrale in Metz last year and enjoyed it. Charming old building, great setting, and free wi-fi. The only problems are no lift (although the stairs are not too steep) and the curtains on my room weren't very good so I needed a sleep mask. But otherwise highly recommended.

Just back from Bordeaux. The Hotel Majestic is fabulously located with everything right out the door. An easy tram ride from the train station but ask the hotel which line and stop to take. Small rooms that are clean and functional.

I stayed at the Hotel Tour L'Intendance in Bordeaux a couple of years ago and liked it a lot. Edit - Deleted duplicate entries!
