have you checked any guidebooks ? Then ask for specific reccomendations as to how much you want to spend etc...I have spent a week in Bordeaux but stayed with someone living there so I have no idea of hotels but the old section of the city is where you would want to be...there may be a nice hotel overlooking the river...I think I saw some and that would be nice...though you may find it a bit noisy from the traffic...as a major road goes along the river...so ask about that...sorry I couldn't offer you any more,good luck...I liked Bordeaux...it is a small enough city to know quickly and though there are not many "top ten" sites there it has ambience
