I recently tried booking a few tickets on TGV-Europe.com for my trip from Paris to Bordeaux but wasn't successful at all. Upon checked out, I was redirected back to my Canadian bank Visa window asking for my 3D Seccure password, and after entering the passcode, I noticed the charge was only part of the total amount of my purchae and that was indicated as a verficiation charges and I assumed it is part of the purchase. Then I entered the password the let go. At the end, the card was rejected and the transcation was collapsed. I phoned the card centre and learnt that the card was charged for Euro 40. Anyone had similar experience and any clue to deal with that kind of situation ? I did the same purchaes last year on Trenitalia but no problem at all, but this time in SNCF just simply drive me crazy.
Any help ??
I'm not sure how to retrieve your 40euros. You may have to reject that charge. As to the other issue, when we arranged our travel last summer we discovered that SNCF now has a policy of only allowing you to charge so much in a given week. I believe it was 150 euros per week. The message you get from SNCF doesn't say that, but that's what happened. It didn't matter that we had verified with the credit card company ahead of time. I think SNCF had a big problem with credit card fraud - who knows. Once we split our reservations, everything went fine. We printed our reservation # and then took that and the credit card to the station & picked up our tickets. You can pick them up all at once. We had an easier time with Trenitalia and didn't have this issue when we'd booked with SNCF several years ago. Good luck
I just booked on that site and had no issues. But it may depend on which bank your card is through. I was never redirected to the bank site at all. Go figure
Was this possibly a charge imposed on tgv-Europe by your own bank? If tgv- Europe were imposing this charge on everyone, seems like there'd be alarm bells all over this board.
