Booking/Reserving Hotels/B&B/Guesthouse in France

Hello everyone here!
We will be in France in June, and traveling to France via Iceland. Due to the uncertainty of volcanic activity, potential disruption to our trip, we are wondering if there are hotels, guesthouses, inns, or B&B's that do not require any prepayment or deposit in order to secure a reservation?

So far all inquiries have required a deposit, or prepayment. This includes other activities we had planned. Are there any Rick Steve's, or community recommended accomodations in Paris, or Nice that do not require prepayment, or a deposit?

Thanks.

Steve

Accor hotels like Sofitel, Mercure, Novotel, Ibis, Etap hotel (check their website to have the full list)take a card number to confirm but you can cancel until 6pm on the day you are supposed to arrive. Good luck with your flights!

Are you finding this for all French accomodations? What type have you looked into? I could see this for apartments or small B&Bs. (I am about the start planning/reserving my trip for December.)

We had this for our Italian accomodations last trip, but not our German accomodations. I am sorry I don't have any answers for you, I am hoping to get more information, as well! (I don't really want to stay in chains.)

Steve -

There are many B&Bs (ours, for example) who just take a CC number to make the reservation but don't charge anything unless you cancel at the last minute.
