Booking a hotel in Paris - timeline

Hello! Yes, I am anxious but that is how I am. I have never been very good with waiting or dealing with the unknown but I am more than willing to do that if I should.

Question: how far in advance should I book my hotel room? I am staying in Paris for 5 nights in September. I am not sure if the early bird gets the worm or if she misses the last minute special. Should I be looking to book now or should I wait until summer?

Thanks in advance.

If you don't like waiting or dealing with uncertainty, reserve now. You have your best shot at hotels that are attractive to you and Paris is quite busy in September. Spend some time here and on Tripadvisor to check out hotels.

Book now. Give yourself the peace of mind and avoid scrambling at the last minute.

Karen,, all the hotels in RS books will be full in September unless you book well in advance. In fact,, many good smaller hotels will also be full. As will larger business hotels. September is full season for hotels,, international airfares may dip a bit, but hotels do not,, often not till late October early Nov.

Lowest prices for many hotels is oddly enough, mid July thru August.( other then deep winter Nov. Jan , Feb)

Thank goodness! I very much want to book now but I always worry about those last minute deals I hear about. My airfare is already booked too. Thanks so much. I will book before mid February.

September is busy in Paris. My favorite hotel books almost a year in advance sometimes. If you know where you want to stay, make inquiries now. Some hotels have a liberal policy about cancellations, so you can change your mind later. In Paris, I wouldn't be concerned with "last-minute-specials" in September. Those might be available in January.

We usually book more than one hotel when booking far in advance. We make sure they have a cancellation policy that costs no money for cancellation. We have been notified on very short notice on previous trips that our hotel was sold, undergoing remodeling, etc so we always have a backup until just a few days or a week before our arrival. WE also keep looking for those delightful little known places, just in case we discover one and wish to stay there. We then cancel the others well in advance in deference to the hoteliers.
