We're going to France in early September and will spend some time with friends in Avignon, and other sights in France, totaling about 2.5-3 weeks. What should we NOT miss? Also, is anyone aware of small riverboat cruises in France?

You do not say whether you are interested in a river/canal trip on a crewed vessel or a drive it yourself adventure. Here is a site that lists both types: http://www.frenchtravel.com.au/CanalBoats/CrewedCanalBoats/Napoleon/index.htm There are lots of other firms on line, such as http://www.locaboat.com/index.php?lang=2&logolang=en ; just Google for more. Once you determine which sort of thing you are interested in, there are lots of folks on the Forum who have done this and would help answer questions.
