We've done it three times in France, a few more in England.

My favorite was the one that either began or ended in Dinan. They've dropped that one for some reason, but the one in Anjou looks to be just as good.

I didn't care to much for the one in Burgundy, but that's not my favorite area anyway.

We did one from Montpellier (Latte) to the Rhone Canal. That was great for the area, the only problem was too much time was spent down in a ditch and you had to stand on the roof to see a lot of the scenery.

I've never done the Canal du Midi and probably never will. Watching from the banks it looks like bumper boats out there which just doesn't appeal to me.

Our next one will probably be Picarde.

We've always used Locaboat, only because we tried them first and where happy so we just kept going back. There are similar outfits with similar tracks.

They're not open all year, and even one company will open some areas before others.

Spring and fall suit me best since the whole area is less crowded. The trip in the southern part of France we froze our tails off on a couple of days, but the boats tohave heaters. No airconditioning.
