Any recommendations for a boat on Lake Lucerne. We'd like to spend 1-2 hours. We will be there in late August
Head to Weggis, just over an hour. You can ride the cable car up to Rigi if you want. Maybe take the train back down to Vitznau and boat back from there. If you just want 2 hours total, even Weggis and back will be too long.
I would recommend the "GoldenPass" route to Mt. Pilatus, this trip allows you be on the Lake for about 45 min., and Mount Pilatus with cog-wheel train to top and cable-car descent is quite impressive on a clear day.
Jim from Dallas, Texas about how much was the golden route trip that you mention? My husband and I are thinking of doing that trip this weekend but can't seem to find the prices online.
You can find the prices at www.pilatus.ch For adults with no Swiss Pass or half-fare card, the Golden Round Trip from Luzern and back is 96 CHF in 2d class for the boat ride; 109 if you want 1st class for the boat segment.
If staying in Luzern I would highly recommend the Golden Round Trip previously referenced...boat trip-cog railway-cable car.....a great way to spend a day, and if the sky is clear the views are fabulous....
Most of the boats on Lake Lucerne are all just a part of the integrated Swiss Public Transport System. Don't pay extra for a private boat ride if you already have some sort of Swiss Pass because the public boats will all be covered by your pass. Yes, I would agree that Weggis is a very nice little trip.
The Golden Round Trip is not a private boat ride. It is just an integrated ticket for boat, cogwheel train, and cable car up and down Pilatus. If you have a Swiss Pass or other discount card the discounts apply.
