What is the best lake to take a boat cruise....Zurich, Luzern or Lausanne? Thanks,
Sue
I can vouch for the Lausanne across to Chateau du Crillon leg. It is a vintage paddle wheel ferry fully and beautifully restored. The views, the lake and the ferry itself are photographic opportuniites. You can take the train back or ferry back from say Montreux.
I firmly believe that there is nothing to compare with the Vierwaldstaettersee - Lake Luzern. It is large, winding, very scenic and evertything anybody would want - mostly. Maybe not Lee because its not Germany, but they do speak Swiss German...
I too would pick Luzern. The surrounding mountains are spectacular. Also, the air was clean and sparkling, while the two times I have been to Lac Leman it was hazy. If you want a little adventure on Vierwaldstaettersee ("Lake Lucerne"), take the boat to Weggis, ride the cablecar up to Rigi Kaltbad, ride the cogwheel train down to Vitznau, and return to Luzern by boat. Or go in reverse, up with the train and down with the cablecar.
Thanks a lot! Very helpful information!
