BMW Factory Tour

Does anyone know how to book the BMW Factory Tour from U.S.? When is the latest tour on each day? How much does the tour cost?
Thanks,
Helen

You can find all that information at the BMW website - just go to http://www.bmw-werk-regensburg.de/lowband/com/en/index.html, then click on "Guided Plant Tours." Once you're there (there will be basic information), click on "Request for Guided Plant Tour" and you can sign up online. I believe the tour is free.

FYI, note that the website says that the plant is closed to tours through September 3rd, and that they will not be taking inquiries for tours until after that date.

By the way, if you're interested in cars, my neighbor's daughter recently went on the Mercedes factory tour in Stuttgart and loved it - and she is not a car buff.

The waiting list is long. We were in Munich in June and could NOT get a tour.

How far ahead of time do I need to make a reservation? We will be in Munich during the first week of September. I hope I will still be able to reserve a spot! Do I need to call the plant from the US to make a reservation or is there another way?
Thanks!

Buy a car and take delivery in Europe and get a tour automatically. :)

actually its not automatic if you buy a car; they set aside tour spots for those who buy a car but you still have to call and reserve.

Unlike the other posters....

I was in Germany last November with my son. We took the U-Bahn to the BMW factory, walked in and booked a tour right there. We had to wait about an hour for the next one to start. Maybe we just lucked out. We didn't book from the US...we took a chance and had a great time in the factory watching the cars being built. It is really something to see!

I cannot remember the cost of the tour..but it seemed like it was about $30 for both of us.

We were there about 9AM...
Might depend on when you travel. Summer months have to harder to get tours...off season much better.

Go to the BMW Munich website. There's a number to call (keep in mind the time difference - add 9 hrs.) An operator will help you in English. They have limited spaces available. I called in May for a mid-October date and got 2 spots, although it wasn't on the day I wanted. You're given a voucher number and you'll pay when you arrive. The tour is 8 euros per person.
