We are staying in Bacharach, Germany the last week of May and would like to do some casual biking. Has anyone biked the trail from Bacharach to Bingen? What type of interesting sights are along the way? Is this a car-free trail? Any restaurant recommendations in Bingen?

The trail runs alongside the road, so in that sense, yes, it is car free. There is usually construction at some point in the road, and this usually funnels all traffic into one lane, so it probably won't be completely car free for the length. "What type of interesting sights are along the way?" Umm.... castles?

Car free like Tom said, pretty flat, the scenery is nice, the bike lane is just beside the river, so you see castles, vineyards, boats. In Bingen we ate at a tiny Thai restaurant, food was excellent, sorry cant remember the name...
