I have seen in one of Rick's videos in Switzerland that you can walk from France to Slovenia and never leave the mountains. I was wondering if there is an actual route that will allow you to hike or more preferably bike that track through the mountains. If so how long is the distance and how long would it take to make the voyage. Is there places along the way that allow you to stop for the night thanks
There is a hiking route across Switzerland, from west to east or vice versatile, called the Alpine Pass route. It goes from Montreux to Sargans ( going west to east) and crosses 16 passes in the length of 350 km. Some of the passes are over 7000 feet. There are huts, mountain inns, and villages along the way for overnight stops. Most people take about 20 days but I know people who have done it in 2 weeks. Much of the trail is pretty rugged and not suitable for even the toughest mountain bike.
To get all the way to Slovenia, you would have to find a route through Austria from Sargans. And to start in France, you would have to link to the trail from there. There is a hikers' route from Chamonix to Zermatt thAt is well-known and well- traveled ( Google hikers Haute Route). If you want to bike it, are you thinking of road bike or mountain bike?

"I have seen in one of Rick's videos in Switzerland that you can walk from France to Slovenia and never leave the mountains." Not completely true. The upper Rhine divides the Alps into western and eastern sections, making a gap in the chain that you would have to cross. It is possible to veer further to the south and avoid the gap, but then you would have to cross the upper Rhone valley instead.
