I think I once saw one of Rick's shows where he biked through a forest and ended up at this great Van Gogh museum, but I have been unable to figure out where he was (definitely Netherlands). Can anyone help?
Oh, I do love this museum as well! It's the Kröller-Müller Museum located in the Hoge Veluwe National Park close to Arnheim. Well known not only for its van Gogh collection but also for Europe's largest sculpture park. And yes, you can rent the white bikes for free! http://www.kmm.nl/

It may the Koller-Muller Museum located in Hoge Veluwe National Park. It has some Van Goghs, as well as Seurat, and a huge sculpture garden, and lots of bike paths. Its in the center of a triangle between Arnhem, Amersfoort and Apeldoorn.
If you are interested in seeing the Kroller-Muller Museum from Amsterdam and won't have a car, do get Rick's Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels book. He has all the details of how to get there, and it's not easy without these detailed instructions.
OK. This is so cool that I've just tweaked our summer trip to include this. We won't have a car and will be coming from Cologne. Can we get there from Arnhem by taxi or bus? I suppose it's in the RS Benelux, right Harold?
You can go by train + bus. Use the website 9292.nl to look exact directions the day you will be travelling. You need to take a train to Ede, then a bus to Otterlo. If you want to arrive by bike you can just walk to the park entrance from the village of Otterlo. If you want to tske a bus all the way to the museum, you need to take another bus from Otterlo to the museum.
