My teenage niece and I want to spend a day touring around by bike. Is there a reasonable route that would take us to France? Or should we just stick to riding around Geneva?

I recommend you visit the Tourist Info in the center of Geneva -- it's right on Lake LeMan/Lake Geneva. They speak English and are really helpful there. I'm sure they'd be able to recommend bike routes. They also rent out bikes all over the city.
