Bike Rental: Melk to Krems - one way

Does anyone know who would rent a bike in Melk for a one way trip? Pick up in Melk and drop off in Krems. Most of what I am finding seems very vague or else requires a return trip.

Thanks Connie! I am suspecting that the one way option is going to be hard to find. I will see if Corinne has any suggestions.

Amy- I can't help you but you might try the above link. It will take you to an old post. The first response is from Corinna who lives in Krems and therefore is an expert on the area. She if very friendly and I'm sure she would be happy to advise you. We rented from a hotel in Melk, but we had to bring the bikes back to them. I know you used to be able to rent at the train station and drop the bike off partway to Krems, but I have heard they don't do that any more. (we didn't try, so I'm not sure how accurate that info is.) We biked to Krems and took the boat back to Melk. Good luck

Thanks Lola - it looks like the Blue Danube website wants a return trip. Bike one way, boat the other. It isn't specific - but it seems implied that it is a two way process. The Power Pedals website seems to be based in Vienna, though I will research that one further.

I am feeling a bit out of luck here. But I am determined to make this work somehow. The bike trip from Melk to Krems sounds ideal, but we won't have time to take the 3 hr boat ride back (twice as long because it is upstream) just to return a bike.

I will keep you all in mind as I continue to hunt.

The hostel that I will be staying at - Hostel Ruthensteiner- says on their web site that they do day tours of a bike/wine tasting tour of the Wachau Valley. I will be there in a few weeks and will let everyone know.
