Rick' Germany book says there's no bike rental near EG, only at south end in city center. Are there any others? I found the Bike Box near the Dietingerstrasse (spelling unsure, near the Bayern Fleming Hotel) Metro exit about 3 blocks west of the EG.
Yes, Tom, but you either have to do a round trip or take the bike back somehow. I stayed at that hotel it must be 2.5 km at least north of the Hauptbahnhof. Thanks for your advice on not going to Rothenburg as it would have been a long drive out of the way. My GF really liked Baden-Baden where she wanted to visit so that ended up being a good stop but didn't really get to make any other stops im Schwartzwald. Die Schweiz was a delight and had great weather. I should have known though not to do the JFJ train as it just wasn't worth the time/effort and since I'd already seen a Utube video. Haven't done my favorite Schitlhorn yet as it was cloudy but think that would have been the better choice with the 200 peaks with clear visibility. Pretty day at JFJ but we would have rather done a hike to Kleine Schweidigg from a slightly higher peak via the Gondola perhaps from the WEngen train stop. Your suggestion of Lindau was spot on, the island village was great. Also am glad we overnighted in Oberammergau rather than Fussen/Schwangau. Bummer that we had three mostly rainy days in Munchen but it was still a great time. Thanks so much for your help. JW
There's a large bike rental agency in the Hauptbahnhof.
This is only regarding renting bikes near Eng. Garten. Per Rick, there's only in downtown area for bike rental. This location is pretty close within three blocks of the west side of the Garten.
