Biel-Bound...Need inexpensive family destination

We are headed to Biel for a wedding this summer. We are hoping for a (very) inexpensive place to visit with our two kids for 3-4 days somewhere within driving distance or train distance of this region. We fly out of Zurich so it could be in that direction. We like having lake access but mountains are good too. Basically, it just has to be kid friendly and also reasonably priced. Any help is appreciated. We are majorly behind the 8 ball on this one, and I am worried about whether we can even pull it off at this point!

Oops, sorry. I am almost embarrassed to say as it's soon. The end of July--28th-1st, although slightly variable...

I found availability on a German site for your stay on the dates in question at this place - an apartment for up to 6 persons in Lörrach, Germany, 1:10 min. by car from Biel, not far from Basel, CH. Price is 400€ for 4 persons with a discount for kids depending on age. 2 bedrooms, Kitchen, washing machine, TV. Can't vouch for it and know nothing more - but it's available, and it's not in very expensive Switzerland. Ferienwohnung Wiese Angelika Koenemann D - 79539 Lörrach Breslauer Straße 28 Tel: + 49 (0) 7621-43 200 Fax: + 49 (0) 32 21 - 23 44 756 E-Mail: [email protected] This additional commercial site where the apt. is listed indicates the owners speak English, so you might just email them directly: Ferienwohnung Wiese

Are you looking for someplace to go before or after the wedding? How old are your children?

Wow What a helpful group! I will check out that apartment, and thank you! We have reservations in Biel during the weekend of the wedding (the 27th) and will be visiting with friends before. We don't fly out until the 2nd, though, so were looking for something special to do with the kids during that week. They are 6 and 8. We ended up with the extra week because of frequent flier restrictions. Not exactly complaining, but it's also a bit of a budgetary issues to stay for so long, which is why we're trying to keep costs low.
