Bicing Barcelona

One travel book said Bicing was only for residents, another said travelers could get a short-term subscription. Anyone know which is correct? Anyone have any particularly nice bike rides to suggest in Barcelona? We'll be there in April, weather permitting we'd love to spend half a day biking. Thanks,

Hi Brad, not sure if you are interested in an actual Bike tour, but Fat Tire( which has offices in London, Berlin and Paris too) Bike Tours do Barcelona bike tours. I have done one in London, all of the offered ones in Paris( over many years) and will be doing one in Barcelona this summer. Now at the Paris office you also can rent bikes, do not know if this is true of Barcelona, but now at least you could check with them , they have easy to use english websites. I would love to hear back about your visit to Barcelona, it will be my first time there this summer.

Maybe a bike tour. I think we'll more likely take a 2 hour walking tour, or two, from tourist information (a Barri Gothic walk and a Modernismo walk look interesting). I'm thinking about a bike ride either in a park or along the ocean. Something relaxing and out of traffic. Thanks,

I didn't rent a bike when I was there, but the Fat Tire tour looks good itinerary wise. If you do rent bikes, the walkway along the beach (toward Barceloneta and the Olympic area) is wide and was full of bikes when I was there in late April, early May (even in the rain). Any place you rent a bike should have suggestions for good routes that keep you safe and out of the crowds (plenty, even in spring).

The walkway along the beach sounds ideal. I used to ride the boardwalk from the bottom of South Mission Beach to the top of Pacific Beach in San Diego. It sounds like the same idea.
