Biarritz Advice?

Hello all.
My wife and I will be visiting Biarritz for the first time this spring. We're hoping to stay for 3 to 4 days and looking for non-hotel\resort type lodging. Any ideas on where we might be able to rent a small flat\efficiency with kitchen, preferably on or near the beach? Also, does anyone have any advice on the best way to access the city? (In terms of which airports to fly into before using rail to reach Biarritz?) Thanks!

I have not been to the Biarritz area but RS has some information in his France 2009 about the area and across the border in northern Spain, presumably also in France 2011. In terms of an apartment type rental, I would suggest trying www.vrbo.com which has vacation rentals by owners. This site has a variety of houses, apartments and condos. The main problem would be the number of days that you want to stay. Usually, the owners want rentals for a longer period such as a week. Airports...maybe Toulouse or someplace in Spain. This does not look like an easy area to reach by air. It would also depend on flights and airlines available from NC. Not much help but...good luck!

Air France serves the BIQ airport which is just a couple miles east of the town. The nearest larger city is Bordeaux, a couple of hours north by road. Air France goes there as well. How you get to Biarritz depends on where you are the day before. Doing it from Spain will be hard. The place is as expensive as all get out.
