Will someone out there be so kind as to suggest a town to stop and stay one night after three of us have left Colmar, France? Need maybe two suggestions, then I can do the research. thanks so much.

A huge section of Germany is between Colmar and Berlin, which presents many different route possibilities. The 2nd link is the one you want, to Google Map. Click directions, input Colmar and Berlin, when it draws a route, start your research by exploring that map.
Then think about what kind of experience you're interested in having: country, big city, etc? This is a huge swath of territory and you don't want complete strangers who don't know you making these decisions for you.
