I take the Roissey bus to the Madeleine & then switch to metro line 8 which brings you within a few blocks of the hotel. It's a cheap & easy way to the hotel. See Rick's Paris book for more information on this as well as for other methods. I don't know how to respond to the comment about RER etc, except to advise you to read Rick's Paris guide.

The RER is basically the Paris suburban rail system, but it is totally integrated & connected with the Metro subway system, which serves the city proper. When you see a reference to 'trains', they are usually referring to France's national rail system, also referred to as the 'SNCF'. The TGV is France's high-speed railway system, which the SNCF operates. (TGV can also refer to a cocktail of tequila, gin, & vodka - which you can order at many French drinking establishments. I don't recommend it.)

Take the RER B from CDG to St-Michel Notre-Dame. Transfer to the RER C and take it to Invalides. Transfer to Metro line 8 and take it to La Tour-Maubourg. Walk to your hotel. Note: Ordinarily I would suggest that you take the RER B to Gare du Nord, Metro line 4 to Strasbourg-St Denis, and Metro line 8 to La Tour-Maubourg. However, due to construction work at the station, Metro line 4 trains won't stop at Strasbourg-St Denis between 7 February and 3 May.
