In Late June we will be leaving Luxembourg city and heading to Interlaken. What is the best way to get there. We were thinking about driving and stopping in Colmar for a few hours. What do you recommend we do?? Thanks!
Brendon, If I were travelling that route, I'd prefer travel by train and would spend at least one night in Colmar. It's a beautiful city and a great place to wander around in the evening. The Unterlinden Museum is worth a visit (IMHO). There's a direct train from Luxembourg Gare to Colmar with a travel time of 2H:35M. From Colmar to Interlaken Ost, there's a train with a travel time of 3H:04M, with one change in Basel. If you decide to use this option, note that the Basel station has two sections (SNCF & SBB) but you can easily walk from one to the other. As I recall, that involves walking up a stairway from the main hallway, and then down another stairway to whichever platform the departing train is leaving from. Note that the rail schedules I mentioned are subject to change. Check the Bahn website to check your connections. Happy travels!
Driving is a good option, if you find a good deal on a car (as to returning it in a different country.
