Sandra - I just did it a few months ago - It was $35 Euros, including bags to The Hotel Royal Ramblas which is very close to your's. Not bad and quick!!
Barcelona is Unbelievable - Walk La Rambla and see the cafes, street performers,& artists, and when you get down to the bottom , by The Old Port jump on the Bacelona open air bus and spend three very nice hours touring the highlights - well worth it! You can get off and back on as often as you like.
And don't miss La Boqueria - Europe's best "Mercat" selling fruit, vegetables, meat, etc. - Displayed perfectly and very close to your Hotel.

Have a GREAT time in Barcelona, Greg

It looks like your hotel is right down the Ramblas from Plaza Catalunya, so take the Aerobus.

Description:
http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/airport/barcelona-airport-transport.html#aerobus

The Aerobus service is an express bus service that links Barcelona airport to the city centre. This service normally runs every 15 mins within its fixed hours of operation (see official website below for the exact timetable for the Aerobus)

You can catch the Aerobus from outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The Aerobus will then take you to the city centre where you can alight either at Placa Espanya or Placa de Catalunya (there are other stops but we recommend you refer to the official Aerobus website - link given below. From there you can catch the metro underground. Click here for the Barcelona Metro Map

Ticket Price 4.25 euros for a single and 7,30 Euros for a round trip from T2. Tickets can be purchased on the bus or at machines outside T2.

For an Aerobus ticket from T1 a single ticket costs 5 euros and a return ticket costs 8.30 euros. Tickets can only be purchased on the bus.

Directions as posted on the Silken Ramblas hotel website: http://www.hotelrivoliramblas.com/en/location.html

How to arrive from airport

In order to reach our hotel, we recommend the “Aerobus" airport bus which leaves the airport terminals every 10 minutes for Plaça Catalunya, 5 minutes from the hotel. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes

Just got back a couple of weeks ago. We were thinking of taking the train, but ended up opting for a taxi ride. It cost more than the train, but we ended up having a entertaining driver. Between his little bit of English and our little bit of Spanish, we talked about cars, daughters going off to college, and fishing. He also pointed out a number of things along the way, which was our first orientation to the city. His personality made it worth the cost, for sure; if I'd've been less tired, I'd've asked for a business card or at least his name and number.

Hi Sandra,

I just wanted to second the vote for the Aerobus to Plaza Catalunya. I just got back from Barcelona and this was the route we used - and it could not have been easier. As soon as you walk out of the airport you'll see either signs pointing to the aerobus line, or the actual line. The bus comes about every 6 minutes so the line moves extremely fast. Our line looked long but we weren't in it for more than 10 minutes. It's cheap, and fast.

You get dropped right in Plaza Catalunya (the top of the Ramblas). We also used this mode of transportation to get back to the airport when we left. It feels safer to me because it's only loaded with tourists =) Everyone has suitcases, everyone is a little confused. You buy your ticket from the driver when you get on the bus. There are fabric covered seats much like on a coach, and luggage storage racks above the seats. The last people on the bus have to stand, but you could probably just opt to wait 6 minutes for the next one if you prefer to sit. Anyways, just wanted to let you know how simple and easy it was. Have a good trip!

I also took the Aerobus coming and going to Barcelona 2 weeks ago. Just be aware that there are 2 different Aerobuses leaving Plaza de Catalunya - one for Terminal 1 and one for Terminal 2 which are 1/2 hour shuttle ride away from each other. If you are leaving Barcelona by air, check your airline reservation to be sure you take the correct bus from Plaza de Catalunya to the correct terminal to avoid lost time and aggravation.
