Will be in barcelona in may. Any suggestions for great tapas would be appreciated
Hi Nathan,
You really can't go wrong with any kind of seafood tapas in Barcelona. It's almost guaranteed to be fresh. :)
We absolutely loved Rick's suggestions for a tapas crawl on Carrer Merce -- these places are closer to the port and away from the tourist trap of the Ramblas, so they felt more authentic. We were the only people speaking English in them when we went. All the info is in the guidebook, but here's the page from an older version.
Barcelona in May is great! Hope you enjoy it!
I can tell you who to avoid. Quasi Queviures ("Qu Qus")at Passeig de Gracia 24 unless you like mayonnaise laden, grease infused, deep fried, non-fresh, along with being cruel and unusual punishement to serve it in prison food.
Edwin
PS - worst food I have encountered in Europe.
Nathan-
My favorite place was Euskal Etxea in the Old Town just a couple blocks from the Picasso Museum. Here is a link: http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/restaurants/restaurant-euskal-etxea.html
They have pinchos where you eat whatever you want and then pay based on how many toothpicks you have on your plate. So fabulous. I had blood sausage canape which was spicy but amazing and something with cranberry compote, brie, and mint. It was delicious! Enjoy your trip!
