Has someone some geat skiing tips for Austria? Next winter we would like to take our 2 young adult duaghters and ourselves to Eastern Europe and hope to take a three-day skiing trip in Ausstria first. We are facing 2 issues. 1- the village/town must be easily accessible by train and 2., the resort village/town needs to have activites for non-skiers. Sadly my arthritis now precludes me from skiing. Thanks and cheers, Allyson.
Allyson have you thought about Innsbruck? The slopes are very close to the town.
Murren area in Switzerland is very beautirul. I do not ski, but my husband does. We also did St. Anton Austria area. We stayed in town and he skiied. I love Zermatt as a non skiier, but that is too far out our your way I guess. I took the lifts, etc and walked all over Zermatt. I have arthritis too and a knee replacement. We do a ski trip for him every winter. Mostly we do Colorado area.
I'd second Innsbruck. It is a wonderful city and very compact. Easy to walk to sites/activiities. The slopes are supposed to be among the best (2 Olympics!)though I don't ski. We have enjoyed Innsbruck in summer and winter!
Innsbruck gets my vote too.Kittzbuhel(famous ski resort)is very close and the city itself is very charming. The only problem:Is located in western Austria, nowhere near your eastern Europe destination, but with a little planning i believe you can enjoy both.Good luck and have fun,Allyson.
