Best Places to Stay in Seville

I am traveling to Seville next week with my family (three forty something adults, three teenagers (16-18) and a seven year old). I've never visited Seville before and am befuddled by hotel marketing hype which makes every hotel look great. I'd really appreciate suggestion on the best hotels in Seville that strike a balance between price and giving us all a genuine Andalusian experience. At the same time, we will be traveling through Europe for an entire month, so we do want to be comfortable (we are not roughing it.)
Thanks everyone.

I'd recommend either of the apart-hotels in the Patios de Sevilla chain (http://www.patiosdesevilla.com). Virtually in the heart of downtown Seville, these are traditional-style Andalusian buildings, with rooms giving onto a central patio filled with flowers. Both hotels are very near the bohemian part of town, so your kids will be able to go out for some fun without having to worry about finding a taxi later. During the summer months the city usually puts up an open air movie theater in the large park right in front of the hotel. You can either eat at one of the numerous bars, or make your own food in the apt. There is an open air market about 5 min. away. Enjoy the trip.

On a RS tour we stayed at Hotel Alcantara (it's in his Spain book). It was quite comfortable, well-located and relatively inexpensive. Flamenco shows take place in a theater just outside the front door. The Alcazar and cathedral are just a few minutes' walk from the hotel. This is an area where many streets are closed to cars, so you have to walk to the hotel from a nearby street. The Santa Cruz neighborhood may be the preferable place to stay for exploring Sevilla.

We rented an apt. from welcomesevilla.com Our apt. was adequate for the 3 of us, very near the cathedral. This company was very professional. When we dropped off our rental at the train station, I called and we were met promptly at the apt.

Our son will soon return from a summer semester in Sevilla...loved, loved, loved his time there. His home-away-from-home there was in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, and he said it was a great location.
