Best places to go in Luxembourg

We are heading to Luxembourg for a quick visit between France and Germany. Any recommendations for must see places? City, sites, restaurants, good hotel to stay at. Thank you!

Thank you for your response. I have only an old guide book as of right now. Thank you for the ideas of the places that you are going to. I love to get ideas on different places to explore.

I was in Luxembourg for 2 days couple weeks ago.
We went to Luxembourg City and Bourscheid. I must say the drive from Luxembourg City to Bourscheid was beautiful, and from Bourscheid to Bastogne was equally breath taking.

stephanie The answers to several of your questions can be found in a read of guidebooks. The answers here can only be at max 2000 characters, way too little to go into any detail. Guidebooks take hundreds of pages and give plenty detail, maps, hotels, food, what to see, how to get around, and lots, lots more. Even if your guidebook is old its a good place to start. Libraries are likely to have even more of them. You'll never get pictures on this helpline - books have them so you can imagine what it will be like before you land. Websites of the town, country or region are also very good. The sort of questions answered best here are specific ones. Like, why did you prefer A to B or what's the best way to ... Happy planning...

Any recommended guidebooks? Like is there a Luxembourg section in any of Rick's books?

I do not have any Rick books that go to Luxembourg. Too many other place to cover, I guess. Not sure about a guide book, did not find one that I like yet. Will only be there a short time. If I discover anything good, I will post it when I get back! :)

Thanks! Yeah, we're sort of only planning a day or maybe an overnight. We're in the very very beginning stages of planning. Probably flying into Germany (maybe Munich?) and probably out of Amsterdam but one of the girls in our group really wants a day in Luxembourg since some of her ancestors are from there (some mine too, so I don't terribly mind the detour). Anyway, it's such a small country and since we're not spending much time there, I don't want to have to buy a specific guidebook. I'll probably search the message board archives and we may just fly by the seat of our pants. :)

If you (or anyone else) is looking for a Luxembourg guidebook, be aware that few (if any) are stand-alone books. Most companies put Luxembourg in their Belgium guides, or their Belgium and Holland guides, and the Luxembourg section is usually short (of course, it's a small country, so that's fair). You could just take a look at your library's editions of these books for some suggestions. Rick does not have info about Luxembourg in his Amsterdam, Bruges, and Brussels book, or indeed in any of his other books.

Yes, I actually just checked our library's ever growing ebook collection and they had Frommer's Belgium, Holland, and Luxembourg so I checked it out...since we plan to go to all three. :)
