We are interested in going to Europe over the Christmas holdays. Can youn recommend a country, area, town, etc.?
We are interested in music, Christmas tradition, and pretty sights (e.g. snow).
Austria. Try Vienna for music, Christmas markets, and snow in the mountains around you.
The Boss loves the X Mass markets in Germany and Austria.
A couple years ago we enjoyed the X Mass season in both Germany and Portugal.
We enjoyed the sno and cold weather in Germany, and then popped down to the Algarve in southern Portugal on a cheap Ryan Air flight, to enjoy the sun and the water.
Great contrasts and lots of fun!
Salzburg, Austria Lots of snow, sleigh rides and the Silent Night chapel in Oberndorf. A Christmas market with vendors selling Christmas decorations, gluwein (a hot, spiced wine) and lebkuchen. You could also go by train to Munich to experience another city's Christmas market and traditions. To get an idea of the different traditions for several European countries, purchase Rick's European Christmas DVD that is sold in his Travel Store on this website.
