Any comments on what mountain rail/gondola ride is the best for scenery in Switzerland. Seems like Mt Pilatus gets the most votes.
Personally, I would vote for the Eggishorn, with views over the Aletschgletscher. But not as many people visit that area, or have even heard of it. If Pilatus is on your route, that may be the best for you.
Pilatus is nice - but is only a small fry when compared to the Jungfrau.
It's not like "which of the six flaggs parks is best?". You just can't compare the view off Pilatus to the view off Rigi, Jungfraujoch, Säntis, Titlis etc. They're all different. Some just offer breathtaking view of the mountain ranges, others allow you to overlook some plains, lakes and a few mountains... On a good day Nordkette in Innsbruck allows you to view far into the Italian alps from the Southern and all the way to the Bavarian alps from the Northern side of the peak... The Titlis gondola is a rotating one, the first of its kind in the world. It was then taken into California so that now you can enjoy the same rotating view in Palm Springs.
Hi,
I liked the Gornergrat rail trip in Zermatt. Loved the views, especially of the Matterhorn.
