I am planning a trip to Bavaria to see the Passionspiele of Oberammergau in 2010. The play runs from May through September. Any suggestions which month would be the best to visit?

Hi Robin,
My opinion, after 4 trips to Germany and Austria in Oct. , would be mid to late Sept. We have found the weather to be similar to here in NJ in Oct., so Sept. would most likely be warmer.

Agree with previous poster, weather will be good and less tourists as well. May can also be a good time as well, mainly because your hosts in Germany will not be so exhausted by the multitudes that they will see over the summer months. We like May because it is such a heralding Spring month, where the area seems to be awakening after a long, cold winter's sleep. Either way, avoid July-August because of the hordes of tourists. Though htere will still be some in May or September, they will not be nearly as pervasive.

In the past 5 years Septembers and Octobers have turned out to be the most weather-stable, nice, sunny, warm (not humid anymore) months. So I fully agree with the posters above me.
