I need the names of a few of the best hostels or budget hotels in Paris. I am traveling with a friend and both of us are under 26 and teachers.

There are several hostels listed in RS guidebooks.

Most of the hotels listed in the book are of reasonable price. It's worth picking up the book and checking them out.

The Tiquetonne is loaded with Parisian charm on a fun, pedestrian-only street filled with good, inexpensive restaurants. It's very safe, and the crowds are all French. A double with a bath for only 50EUR is a great deal. The hotel isn't fancy, but has character and is located in a trendy neighborhood near several Metro stops. I would stay here again.

Budget means diff amounts to diff people. For about 75-100 euros for 2 you should be able to ck Ricks guidebooks and find a place. Otherwise it is dorm style hostels.

Hi H,
When you are on the Internet looking for inexpensive hotel rooms, be sure to consider a small hotel directly across the Seine from Notre Dame called "Hotel Esmeralda". It is a very interesting establishment - and the low prices make it necessary to book rooms well in advance.
