Best European destination for Early March

Hello! Trying to decide where to head for a week during early March. We don't mind the cold, as long as it's not too cold (around 30 F).

Any suggestions would be great!

We liked the Rhine Valley at that time. There is not a lot of tourists and you can get some good deals. We also like London at that time for the same reason- also the British countryside for the same reasons. You don't have to worry about whether there is A/C or not and most places have heat.

I would tend toward the further South destinations during March. They will experience Spring earlier in the year than their Northern neighbors.

Italy, Spain, Portugal, South of France will be great that time of year.

We visited some Franconian/Bavarian towns in early April two years ago: Würzburg, Rothenburg, Ansbach & Regensburg. Older towns are about the same any time of the year.

We like off season travel. Tourism is low. Museums and shops are not especially crowded. Tourist hotels are happy to see you. That mid morning break for coffee and pastry has added pleasure when you come in from the cool, often wet weather. It is a different, more relaxed mood.

No one can guarantee the weather but highs should be in the 40's. We did have one day with a few snow flakes. They melted as they hit the ground.

Regards, Gary

You not only want to avoid the cold, but you want to see the sun every day in March. For that reason you will want to stay in the southern part of Europe. Especially the Mediterranean area.

You might also find cold weather in the Alps; so stay out of them. You will also find the costs lower in small towns when compared with the larger tourist towns.
