We will be in Paris next week, and my daughters, ages 12 and 14, are determined to find the best croissant in Paris. Does anyone have any suggestions of specific bakeries to try? Thank you!
Love this idea. My daughter (age 21) and I just did a "Cafe Crawl" in Berlin in search of the "best" Berlin coffee and pastries. I found that just google searching provided me with the best set (didn't get much response via online requests). We mapped out a game plan, but also added/deleted along the way. I still plan to write a trip report about our adventure. Don't have any suggestions (liked every croissant/pain au chocolat that I ever had in Paris). I did just have a pain au chocolat at "Paul" in CDG then was delighted to discover another "Paul" in Prague. I doubt they would end up being your "best', but worth trying just for comparison. Bon Appetit and let us know your results!
I found the best pain au chocolat aux amandes! It's right next to my school, L'Institut Catholique. I am in love.
They should not restrict themselves. They should also search out the best pain au chocolat. This article is about 5 years old, but they might enjoy. They should look at the rest of David Lebovitz's blog. http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2007/02/the-best-croiss/
If they like chocolate, I too suggest they search for the best croissant AND pain au chocolat! I like the pain au chocolat's at the Kayser bakeries. It is a family run chain. I never tried their croissants.
This article is timely for you: http://edition.cnn.com/2012/06/27/travel/best-croissant-in-paris/index.html?hpt=itr_t1
Wow! So many responses already. Thank you! My girls really are looking forward to their quest for croissants, so all recommendations will be most welcome. I'm sure we will also enjoy pain au chocolat. Thanks again!
I think what will amaze them (you?) is not how hard it is to find a "best" - but how delicious so many of them will be! And yes... pain au chocolat. (Makes yummy noise... rolls eyes in ecstasy)... :-)
