Best car rental and CDW insurance advice.

Does anyone have a preferred car rental company to use in Germany? I have quotes from Auto Europe with a GPS. The CDW sure does bump up the price. I heard you can buy CDW insurance cheaper with a separate company $7 per day. Has anyone done this?

Not really. Travelers here have reported both satisfactory and occasionally unsatisfactory experiences with all the major car rental consolidators and companies in Germany, including Auto Europe, Sixt, Gemüt.com, and the other big name companies.
