Hey guys, My girlfriend and I will be traveling to Europe for a week and a half in January, with our final stop as Brussels. We are college students who don't mind paying for quality, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for lodging. We're looking to stay in a B&B in Brussels, since they seem the best combinations of value and proximity to culture. Has anyone had luck staying at Brussels B&B's, and which one would you select if you had to go there again? Feel free to add in any other general advice on seeing Brussels. Thanks!
We stayed at a charming little B & B in suburban Brussels. About 15 mins to city centre by handy train or tram. Google Noels B & B Brussels. Twin room with continental breakfast 80 euros per night.
We stayed at the Hotel Welcome near the Ste. Catherine metro stop last year. Robert the manager is full of energy, knows the area really well and can make some great restaurant recommendations. Hotel Welcome is in Rick Steves' Amsterdam, Bruges & Brussels book.
we stayed at the maison noble and liked it very much. very modern and comfortable. easy walk to town center. we found several good restaurants near the "chat noir" restaurant. sorry, can't recall exactly where it was, but near town center. much wonderful architecture to see including art nouveau.
We stayed in Les Escrins near St. Catherine's and loved it. We had an apartment, but they also rent rooms. I would definitely stay there again. Nice quiet location, easy 10 minute walk to Grand Place, and very friendly and helpful owners.
We also liked Les Ecrins for all of the reasons that Carroll mentioned!
