Bernese Oberland Switzerland

Hello, my partner and I are travelling to the Bernese Oberland for 2 or 3 nights in early December (6th, 7th, 8th). We were planning on staying in Grindelwald as its both our first time skiing and from what I gather these slopes cater towards beginning skiers, we were looking at just spending one or 2 days on the slopes.. However after doing a bit of research it seems most places dont open until the middle of December. Would anyone know whether there is anything open at this time of year (grindelwald, murren or wengen) and also if it is possible to ski at this time of year (wasnt sure whether cable cars would be running and ski hire would be available etc)? Thanks in advance, Chloe

The slopes will open as soon as there's enough snow, usually at the higher elevations first. This could be anytime between late November and mid-December. However, the hotels in the mountains usually open at a fixed time. If no lodgings are open in the mountains, you can always stay in Interlaken (ignore what the Rickniks say about it being not worthwhile, it's a decent town). Probably the only near guarantee you would have for skiing in early December would be in the far north of Scandinavia, but provided late fall isn't unseansonably warm, something should be available in the Alps.
