We plan to take Rick's advice and stay in Murren or Gimmewald. From there we plan to travel east to Reutte. Is there a good route and some interesting things to see along the way?? We have young kids and are hoping to break up the trip.
Depends on which route you take. I traveled the opposite direction from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Interlaken. The route along the A8 has some fantastic scenery (when you're not driving through one of Swizterland's hundreds of tunnels). I didn't stop in Luzern, Zug, Zurich or St. Gallen, but at least from the major roads, there didn't appear to be much of particular interest. Lindau on the German side of the Bodensee is a gorgeous little lake town that few Americans ever visit. And while you're in Reutte, you might want to pay a visit to Garmisch, especially if you have kids with you.
