Berner Oberland question

At the end of August we will be spending 2 full days and an afternoon in BO. Will be sleeping in Lauterbrunnen and weather permitting will spend one day going to Jungfraujoch, including a hike from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheideg, and the second day hiking from Grutschalp to Gimmelwald. Two questions: first, if the weather is only good one of the days we are there, which of those two trips is the more scenic or otherwise better; secondly, I have a bum knee that's bothersome on step descents - will either of these trips be excessive? I realize both questions are subjective, but am after opinions. We were in the area last year and bad weather kept us in the valley. thanx Duane

If you want to go up to the Jungfraujoch, given the expense of getting there, you'd probably want that to be your better weather day. Keep an eye on the monitors and the forecast and plan to get an early start. The Grutschalp-Gimmelwald segment I did recently and despite it being rated easy, my knees complained. Probably I should have slowed my pace in the steeper downhill sections, plus I was carrying groceries from Murren on.

Which is more scenic is pretty subjective, they are all simply awesome...
