We have one day in Bern (we're taking the train from Frankfurt to Florence, Italy) and it happens to be a Monday when it looks like most museums are closed. What have you enjoyed doing here on Mondays? Thanks, I appreciate all suggestions.
We spent the day in Bern just walking around the lovely town. There was an open air market, a lovely part overlooking the river and a number is interesting shops. There is also a cathedral - closed when we were there and the bears (which we didn't visit). The porticos are nice and we ate a nice lunch outside.
If you arrive by train, walk a few blocks away to get to the more charming part of the town. I enjoyed it alot - with no museums visited.
Leave your clobber at the station and hop one of the frequent trains to Interlaken Ost. Either take the steamer on the lake to Brienz or grab the narrow gauge train up into the mountains for a day.
We really enjoyed Bern. The cathedral is usually open on Mondays and offers great views from the top of the tower. And the Einstein House in the centre of town is open on Mondays as well. To explore more check out these sites: www.einstein-bern.ch
