Berlin train station advice

When traveling through Berlin Hbf allow some time. Even as a frequent traveler today it took me some time to loacte the platform of my train. Also note: High speed trains from the South also stop at Südkreuz from where you can catch the ring train lines around downtown Berlin. Trains from the West also stop at Spandau from where you can also get to final destinations in the Western half of the city. When traveling to/from Berlin to not enter just Berlin on bahn.de, du enter your final Berlin S-/U-Bahn station as that might safe you up to an hour! Example: Your hotel is in the Southern half of Berlin and you want to take a train to Munich. Instead of backtracking all the way up to the Central Train Station just take an S-Bahn to Südkreuz where the trains towards Munich stop as well...

It can take some time to connect at Berlin Hbf. If your train arrives up top (E-W) and you are changing to a N-S service in the subbasement, its going to take a good 10 minutes to get down there on a gazillion escalators.

Still one of my favorite stations in Europe, though.
