Has anyone used berlin schoenefeld airport. Is it easy to get from the airport to Berlin City Centre.
Never been there but I see there are frequent suburban rail services to central Berlin. However Berlin suburban rail services had a total meltdown over the summer so it might be an idea to look for more local opinion.
I flew into it two years ago and was completely jet lagged and so opted for a taxi. While I'm sure it wasn't cheap it couldn't have been too bad or I'd have remembered it. I was on a Rick Steves tour and I think to get my hotel in the Prenzlauer Berg area it was going to involve some transfers, but it was definitely doable and I'd likely go public transit next time. ; ) Pam
I googled the airport website and copied the following info (clicked on the streaming banner to get it):
Due to technical problems there are limitations of S-Bahn-Services in Berlin. Please allow more time for your journey from/to the airport.
Passengers with destination airport Berlin-Schoenefeld (SXF) please use the following lines:
• Airport Express (suburban trains RE7 and RB14) every 30 min
• A replacement express bus connects S+U Alexanderplatz and Schönefeld Airport every 10min.
• Underground train U7 to station U Rudow und furtheron with the bus X7 or 171
• The Expressbus SXF1 between S Suedkreuz Bhf and the airport can actually used by VBB-tariff without any supplement.
S and U mean S-Bahn and Untergrundbahn.
Getting to and from Berlin Schoenefeld
The airport is 30 minutes by car from the city centre. It is located just off the A13 autobahn, which leads to the 96a roadway into the city.
The taxis are outside the Arrivals Hall of Terminal A. A ride to the center of Berlin is approximately €35.00 to €40.00.
Have fun in Berlin! My favorite big city so far!
