Berlin Museum Island Pass

There was some discussion here about this three years back, but I think things have changed. I'm trying to follow Rick's advice and purchase the pass for Museum Island. (not the 50 museums card) It comes bundled with a couple days of free public transit and full admission (no special exhibits) to the 5 or 6 museums. While there won't be time for all of them, it's not a bad deal if you can skip lines. The strategy has worked so well in other cities. HOWEVER, when I went to purchase the pass, the two most popular museums now require a timed entry. So we have to time our weekend plans in advance around a couple of museum entry times? For a once in a lifetime visit? I cannot find an email address for someone who verify this in less than two weeks. The website doesn't translate well. Does anyone understand how to navigate this one.

Barb, this is non reposnsive, but if u have not made a reservation for the
Reichstag, do it immediately. it was great. We were there last year. the 4 museums took us about 1/2 a day. My recollection is tha we made our time reservtions there the day before and that te pass still required that you get a timed freservation. But again if u have not reserve for the Reichstag, which was great

Booyah!, Nigel ;-) I thought the fiver was pretty spectacular - this is like the Fourth of July!!! Eleventh Heaven...or something... Barbara, are you speaking of the 'Berlin Welcome Card'? Or one of the others? From what I've gathered from the WWW (note: 2-year-old info, but from trusted sources) you can get day tickets/time-stamped tickets from a different museum for the Pergammon and Neues Museums. I didn't read anything about needing to reserve tickets weeks or months in advance, just a short wait at most. And be aware that you may be required to pay any special exhibit charges (2-5€) in order to enter the museum. Yes, you shouldn't have to, but... There may be some communication or German > English translation errors...so be prepared to go with the flow. You may also be told the museum is closed... that most likely means until some people leave, they're restricting entry. Again, a communication goof.

If you are using the Berlin Museum Pass or the Welcome Card to gain admission to the Neues and/or Pergamon museums, you still need a time slot to enter the museum (no time limit to stay inside). You can reserve the time slot for free on the museum's website. They will give you a voucher you print. On the day of your visit you present your voucher, exchange for an actual ticket and pay a small fee (€ 1 to 3) for the special exhibition. You then enter the museum. The idea behind time slots is exactly to prevent lenghty lines and overcrowding. So your pass will not make you skip the line.
