This is what I thought I'd do. Is there anything missing? Day1. Get in to Berlin Haupbanhof at 13.00. Head by S-Bahn to my digs in West Berlin. Go to Zoo Station and take the 100 bus to Brandenburg Tor. Take a look at Brandenburg Gate. Walk up Unter den Linden. Return to West Berlin. Day 2. Reichstag - Holocaust Memorial - Potsdamer Platz - Checkpoint Charlie - Topography of Terror - ???? Day 3. Berlin Wall Memorial Site Nordbanhof Ghost Station East Side Gallery Kreuzberg
Kurferstendam Is my order correct???
Well no such thing as "correct" or "incorrect" but I think you can do more on day 1 and 2 than you list. If you're already going to Brandenburg Gate on day 1, maybe you can make a reservation to see the Reichstag dome (must be done online) at the same time, in late afternoon/early evening. Sunset would be perfect (don't know what time if year you're going). Everything on day 2 is in easy walking distance of day 1, so I would try to fit as much in from day 2 on day one within reason, at the pace you want. Potsdamer platz is more interesting at night, but there isn't much to "do"unless you're going to see a movie or shop, and even the shopping isn't that interesting. On day 2 I would consider adding more since you'll hopefully have done some of it on day 1. I think the DDR museum is great fun. You could see the zoo since you're staying nearby. Or there's always one of the "big" museums at the Museum Insel. Day 3 looks good.
Hi, In "correct" do you mean logistically? Yes. It looks as though you're staying in the Charlottenburg or Wilmersdorf district? Day 1...very doable if it's in the summer. I've done the same myself. Day 2 ...is a full day, esp if you plan on doing an immense amount of walking. Berlin is a walking town too. At Potsdamer Platz station take the S-Bahn to Friedrichstrasse. Day 3...Kreuzberg and Ku'damm are close but better to take a bus. I myself am not attracted to Potsdamer Platz, came upon it the first time by accident. But, you have the time, say on day 3, I would suggest the Resistance Museum on Stauffenbergstraße, ca., 10 mins or so from the DJH hostel (YHA) on Kluckstraße. Signs from there point to the Resistance Museum.
Don't forget to eat curry wurst! Yum!
I think if you would go on a walking tour or two or perhaps a bike tour of Berlin, you would get a lot more out of the city. You will see a lot of places on your list in a very efficient way, plus get a good orientation to the city and learn what makes Berlin, Berlin. Rick suggests several tours in his 2012 book, that would really enhance your trip.
