I am flying out of Berlin TXL to Frankfurt on Luftansa. Then USAir from Frankfurt home.
Has anyone done this? Will I clear security in Berlin or will I need to go out and back in at Frankfurt?

You might have to. I've flown through Frankfurt, arriving on one concourse, departing on another. I had to go through security at least two times going from Concourse A to Concourse B. But that was in 2002, coming from Munich, going to Denver, Lufthansa all the way. Things might have changed.

You will clear regular security in Berlin and then a second one just outside the gate in Frankfurt. If you started your journey in Frankfurt you'd go thru regular security in Frankfurt and the second one just outside the gate as well. That's the rules with flights to Israel and the US.
