Berlin Airline Connection

I have a 5 hour airline connection in Berlin. Is it possible to see anything in this area for 3-4 hrs or just read my book at the airport?

Berlin has more than one airport. Which one are you using?

Tegel is in the city, and there is a bus that runs directly from there along Unter den Linden to Alexanderplatz. However, the bus ride is not short. I remember it taking around 30-45 minutes, and that was on a Sunday morning. If you move quickly, you might be able to see a bit of Unter den Linden before turning around and heading back.

Thank you...I guess a good book at the airport will work just fine. Hopefully this airport has a lounge.

Sources online say that the Bus that runs directly from Tegel to the Hauptbahnhof (very fast trip from there to Brandenberg gate/Reichstag) takes 20 minutes. With your layover you could easily see these two impressive sights and have a currywurst and get back to the airport in time to go through security.

The new airport is scheduled to open June 3 (hopefully). Air Berlin and others will be using it. Just in case you are going to be there after June 3.

I will be traveling in May so the new airport will be opening a little too late for me. But now I can get my coffee and bakery goods to go and try for that bus. Thank you all so much for you input.

Hi, That bus from Tegel to Hauptbahnhof is the TXL which runs down Invalidenstraße and stops there in front of the Hbf. Take the S-Bahn (any of them) going east to Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse, from there you can walk to the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, and other sites. No need to waste the time at the airport.

Thank you so much...I am not one to waste time while traveling...and 5 hrs. at an airport would have ruined my day.
