We are planning a trip to Berchtesgaden to see Eagle's Nest, also wanting to ride the boat on Koenigsee and perhaps on another 1/2 day go to the salt mines. Can we do this on our own since we will be in a rental vehicle or would all this be better by tour? We are arriving in Salzburg on a Saturday at around 11am or 12pm and dropping off our luggage ...wanting to tour Salzburg and recovering jet lag. We will have this time to tour Salzburg town and possibly salt mines? The next day planning to see Eagle's Nest and ride the boat on Koenigsee before heading by car into Allgau Alps around 5 or 6pm..Oberstaufen. Does this sound reasonable or what would you suggest?
